Our dentists at Willowbrook Dental Clinic in Langley offer professional teeth whitening as an effective method of helping to remove stains, boost your self-confidence and brighten your smile. Today, we explain how the professional teeth whitening process works.
While your teeth will naturally darken with age, numerous foods and beverages can also cause discolouration and staining. Teeth whitening is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that can quickly and effectively help to restore the appearance of your smile.
Professional Teeth Whitening
Our team of dental professionals at Willowbrook Dental Clinic offer custom teeth whitening systems to help our patients remove stains from their teeth in the comfort of their home.
Professional teeth whitening treatment requires two visits to our Langley dental clinic:
During your first whitening appointment, molds (impressions) of your teeth will be created so that the custom whitening trays can be custom-made to fit your teeth.
When you come in for your second appointment, we will provide you with your custom whitening trays in addition to the whitening solution, plus full instructions on how to use the professional teeth whitening kit to achieve the best results.
The Teeth Whitening Process
Whitening trays are lightweight, and comfortable to wear. You will receive specific instructions for your whitening treatment. However, you can expect to wear your trays with the whitening solutio either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks, depending on the desired level of whitening and degree of staining.
Typically, treatment takes between 10 and 14 days to achieve the level of whiteness desired. If you are wondering how white is white enough, ask your dentist for guidance.
Once you’ve completed your treatment, keep your whitening trays so they are ready for next time. Just contact our office for more of the whitening solution.
Important note: Tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth is common. This should subside shortly after you have completed your treatment. If you are experiencing side-effects from professional teeth whitening, contact our office for advice.
